Child care and sponsorship
With little resources with in our reach we sponsor aids orphaned and needy children to acquire free education at the centre. We also provide scholastic materials and cater for basic needs to the children.
Vocational training
We also facilitate youth who never got a chance to to acquire formal education with practicle skills in tailoring and cutting, building and concrete practice, carpentry, farming and craft making.
Women empowerment
St.stephen children centre empowers women in income generating activities like craft making, livestock and agricultural production.
Agriculture /farming
In Agricultural Intervetion Program, we grow vegetables at the school aiming at making agriculture a fun to pupils and also as a learning environment for practicle agriculture. The harvests acquired are given to the pupils to supplement on their nutritional requirements. The skills acquired in farming by pupils and guardians are packaged in a way that helps them to build on what they aready know which enable them to intergrate with their traditional knowledge [backgrounds] with modern methods of farming.
Livestock production
St.stephen childrens centre runs a livestock projects like poultry, piggery,goats and diary but still on subsistence basis. Plans are under way to enhance this program to become real income generating. When resources become available we hope to acquire better/superior breeds of livestock to increase production.
How can you help st.stephen childrens centre?
Any small contribution made to your affordability shall highly be appreciatred and will be used directly on what it’s meant for. You can donate, make monthly contribution or fundraise for us. Letting other people know about us is also a great contribution towards development of st.stephen projects.
Here are the following ways how you can enable us carrying out our development activities.
Child sponsorship program
Currently we have 250 orphaned and needy pupils [girls and boys], 52 secondary students and 15 youths who are waiting for sponsorship. On yearly basis for pupils in primary school 110$[for day scholars] boarding tution could cost 300$, 250$ for day schoolar secondary school students, for boarding students it can cost 500$. For vocational training 500$.
Volunteering and internership
You can volunteer with st.stephen children’s centre and help us serving vulnerable /disadvantaged groups of people in rural communities. The period of stay can run from 2 weeks to 6 months or even a year. We would like to receive/host volunteers with the following expertise areas or interests.
Education
Child care
Project management
Computers and web design
Health
Rural community outreaches.
Agriculture/veterenarian/animal husbandry
And other interests related to community development.
Women and youth empowerment
You can help us facilitating training programs to rural youth and women in craft making, vocational skills and other crosscutting issues like Hiv/Aids, Malaria prevention and control.
Agricultural/livestock production and environment
Agricultural production involves both crop growing and animal rearing. You can help us facillitating experienced personel to to train subsistant farmers [they can grow for domestic food consumption or they can not even reach enough food at home/ they are food insecure] to enable them increase production. Projects under this program could involve distribution of good breeds/varieties of seeds/livestock.
Family support program
You can help us build a low cost house for child headed family pupils and elderly pupils at 580 $. Under this program you can also help us facilitate a small income generating projects in the family. It can either be a goat, cow/heifer, piglet or poultry to enable them get some income to meet basic domestic needs.
You can also help us to acquire mosquito nets to be distributed among to the community members as a way of preventing malaria.
Orphanage home
You can help us to construct/set up/establish an orphanage home for homeless Aids Orphaned Pupils. We hope to start with 2 dometries for accommodation, one for girls and another for boys. The proposed site shall be on our land available. The budget estimates for the first phase of construction 2300 $
Classroom block construction
You can partly help us constructiong a 4[four] classroom block for ultility as classrooms. We currently don’t have enough classrooms, some pupils study from open ground which affects better learning condition of pupils. The first phase of dump proof course was budgeted to 500 $ recquirement.
Teacher sponsorship
You can sponsor a teacher/staff to upgrade their studies and develop more competencies or you can contribute upon their salaries. One teacher per month 95$. For three academic terms/a year 285$
Penipal /teacher correspondence program/partnerships
You can help us find school from abroad to correspond with our students/teachers. We are also interested in finding organization to work with in the areas of activities/program interventions.
